Carrie Mundane, also credited as Cassette Playa is a British fashion designer, working and living in London. Starting as a stylist for music videos and tours, her career quickly fell through as a designer when realising she was translating the sound of music to clothes. Having worked with several people including M.I.A, The Klaxons, Boy Better Know, Dizzee Rascal, Late of the Pier, Mundane also contributes as a fashion editor and stylist for i-D and Super Super Magazine. Being so involved in the music industry it’s no wonder that we now see her link up with DJ Q to provide us a bassline mixtape featuring artists such as Tempa T, JME, BBK, Dizzee Rascal and Wiley. In 2007 she was nominated ‘Best Menswear Designer’ at the British Fashion Awards alongside Alexander McQueen and Christopher Bailey. In 2008 Mundane was named ‘Best Fashion Designer’ by Rolling Stones magazine and later collaborated with Nike producing a Cassette Playa Nike Blazer Premium featured in her Spring/Summer 2008 show. Her work was then presented in London’s Victoria and Albert museum at the ‘Fashion v Sport’ exhibition.
